الأطباء البيطريون المتخصصون هم اختصاصيون يتمتعون بتعليم علمي شامل. ولديهم القدرة على تنفيذ، بطريقة مستقلة وأخلاقية ومسؤولة شخصيًا، جميع جوانب الطب البيطري، في مصلحة صحة ورعاية الحيوانات والصحة العامة وفقًا للتشريعات الوطنية والدولية. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، يحتاجون إلى مؤهل و/أو خبرة معترف بها في سلالات معينة و/أو إجراء بيطري.
