The 10th of February 2022, the Commission officially presented the latest ESCO major version-ESCO v1.1- in an online webinar with more than 350 stakeholders from across Europe and beyond.

The webinar marked the celebration of a nearly two years’ process of intense knowledge management, stakeholders’ consultations, research analysis, translations and the introduction of data science technology to support this work.

To kick-start the event, the European Commissioner for Jobs and Social rights, Nicolas Schmit expressed his appreciation to all ESCO stakeholders that contributed to its development via a video message.

The webinar’s agenda included three main presentations and time for questions and answers from the audience. More concretely, stakeholders learned about:

  • What is new in this major version and the methodology for this continuous improvement process;
  • How this affects existing users and more generally how to access ESCO data;
  • ESCO’s plans and concrete examples of using artificial intelligence to continuously maintain the classification.
