Crosswalk between ESCO and the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF)

For the latest ESCO update, v1.2, the European Commission's ESCO team and the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) collaborated to align the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF) with the ESCO classification. While ESCO covers occupations and skills across the entire EU labor market, the ECSF provides a focused analysis of role profiles specific to the cybersecurity sector. Despite their different scopes, both share the common goal of analysing the labor market in terms of professional roles and required skills.
As a result, ESCO v1.2 now includes five occupations directly aligned with ECSF cybersecurity profiles, along with seven additional ECSF profiles linked to multiple ESCO occupations based on shared skills and scopes. This update also introduced the addition of new cybersecurity-related skills, the updated of existing descriptions, and the introduction of alternative labels, ensuring ESCO better reflects the demands of the cybersecurity sector.
For more details on how these frameworks were mapped, including the relationships between specific roles and occupations, further information is available in the documents bellow where you can as well find a detailed table that outlines the relationship between ESCO occupations (including their respective ESCO codes) and ESCF role profiles.
