As a flagship ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) event and contribution to the European Year of Skills, ESCO major version v1.2 will be published in May 2024, following a series of consultations with ESCO stakeholders and EU Member States.

The pre-release version includes a content update with occupations, skills and knowledge concepts that are not part of the current ESCO as well as a number of changes to existing concepts. Therefore, this major version includes both quality and quantity review of the classification, following the changes on the European labor market and educational policies.

The number of concepts subject to this consultation is summarised in the chart below:

In this context, the European Commission invites external feedback and comments on the proposed and modified concepts by Friday 20 October 2023 (23.59).

To provide your feedback, an excel file (ESCO_v1.2 consultation content overview) lists all concepts that have been created or modified. The Occupations and Skills concepts have been divided into different tabs for easier use. This file is available for download in the Publications section along with an additional guidance document with detailed instructions on how to leave your comments and analyze new or modified concepts. After your analysis and added comments, the excel file should be sent back in its original format to EMPL-ESCO-SECRETARIAT@ec.europa.eu and with the email subject: External Consultation Feedback - ESCO V1.2.
