As part of the effort to help Member States meet the needs of Ukrainian jobseekers,  the European Commission together with the European Training Foundation (ETF)  published recently the latest version of ESCO in Ukrainian. The availability of the classification into Ukrainian is of a crucial importance to all stakeholders joining forces to better integrate Ukrainian job-seekers and graduates into the EU labour markets.

To mark this important milestone, the Commission and ETF hosted a short live webinar to showcase how to use the Ukrainian version of ESCO and present several testimonials from ESCO implementers. The webinar took place on the 16th of June 2022 from 9.30 to 12.30 CET online, counting on the presence of 80 stakeholders across Europe and especially from Ukraine.

With this occasion, the Commission also announced the newly released “Guidance for access to the labour market, vocational education and training and adult learning of people fleeing Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine” (The Guidance). It describes actions that can be taken by Member States based on lessons learnt and best practices collected from the previous measures at EU level: a) to integrate people arriving from Ukraine into the labour market; and 2) to support their access to vocational education and training and adult learning.

ETF also announced a resource hub created to help those fleeing Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine with information on how to continue education and training and seek assistance in getting their qualifications recognised, and others who need help in interpreting them.

The release of ESCO into Ukrainian, the availability of the Europass e-portofolio and of the EU skills profile tool for 3rd country nationals into Ukrainian are all key components of the integration efforts of the Ukrainian people fleeing the war into EU labour market.
