The ESCO team visited the Directorate of Labour Iceland

The Commission visited the Directorate of Labour (Vinnumálastofnun) in Reykjavik, Iceland on Wednesday 6 December 2017.

During the visit the team of the Directorate of Labour and the ESCO team discussed how ESCO can support job matching in the context of the new EURES Regulation, and how this can be best prepared on a national level. The Commission presented the ESCO classification, its main features, and the possibility of using ESCO in a national context. The Directorate of Labor presented its activities and raised questions regarding the technical aspects of ESCO and how it could be implemented it in their systems.

Iceland is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA). In the Member Countries of the EEA the free movement of workers is a fundamental right which permits nationals of one EEA country to work in another EEA country on the same conditions as that member country’s own citizens.
