The Commission currently prepares the final draft of ESCO in the English reference language.

On 8 February 2016 the ESCO Secretariat travelled to Innsbruck to present ESCO at the kick off  meeting of the OpenEuropean Skill Match Maker (OPESKIMR), a Europe 2020 project funded by the Commission

The e-learning and recruitment platform AcademyCube now uses ESCO to improve the matching of skills profiles with jobs for the ICT sector.

The European Commission launched the ESCO mapping pilot in the summer of 2014.

ESCO, the multilingual classification of European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations, has been published on the European Union Open Data Portal.

After consulting the ESCO Board and the ESCO Maintenance Committee, the Commission launched a pilot project for interoperability with ESCO.

Currently, ESCO is being developed together with stakeholders and experts grouped according to their professional expertise around 11 Sectoral Reference Groups and the Cross-sector Reference Group.

The now public ESCO v0 is a classification of skills and competences, occupations and qualifications. In total the classification contains more than 200 000 terms.
