ESCOpedia
A hidden term is a type of term, next to the preferred and non-preferred term.
In ESCO each concept has one preferred term per language. In addition any number (zero to many) of non-preferred terms and hidden terms can be added to a concept.
Hidden terms are commonly used on the labour market to refer to a concept but are at the same time considered as outdated, misspelled or politically incorrect. Therefore, they are invisible for the end-user.
In ESCO, hidden terms are used for indexing, searching and text mining purposes. When searching for a hidden term, the search result will automatically redirect to the concept with its preferred term and refrain from displaying the hidden term.
