In February 2024, the European Commission released ESCO v1.1.2, a minor update aimed at improving the Ukrainian translation within ESCO. This version does not introduce new skills or occupation concepts but focuses on enhancing the existing Ukrainian translation, initially included in ESCO back in June 2022 as part of ESCO version v1.1.
What has changed?
ESCO v1.1.2 includes:
- Translation to Ukrainian of all descriptions of occupations and skills at the ESCO level
- Corrections and quality improvements of 9680 existing skills titles (preferred terms)
- Corrections and quality improvements of 2918 existing occupations titles (preferred terms)
By expanding the dataset to include translated Ukrainian descriptions, ESCO stakeholders will gain the ability to use ESCO data more accurately and efficiently across various applications. For example, diverse skill matching tools will benefit, enabling better matching of seekers' profiles with job or training offers. These updates carry significant importance for stakeholders using Ukrainian translations in their systems, including HR software providers, public employment services and career counsellors.
